Soul of the Movement Fund MA is excited to announce our first round of fellowships! We launched this fellowship program for Massachusetts based spiritual and healing practitioners seeking to support the spiritual, healing, and emotional needs of social justice movements in the Fall of 2023. This structure is an experiment in modalities of support to healing and spiritual practitioners across MA – prior to this, Soul of the Movement MA previously experimented with a rapid response fund in 2020 as the pandemic began in partnership with Episcopal City Mission. We received a total of 38 applications, and are thrilled to share that we were able to resource 14 practitioners.
Our Sustainer Fellows, representing a community of practitioners who have committed, together, over 60 years of practice to healing and spiritual modalities in social justice movement spaces, will use the resources for a variety of needs, including: to rest and restore, to hold space for other practitioners to integrate, and to offer mentorship to new practitioners.
Our Emerging Practitioner Fellows, most of whom are new or developing deeper commitment to healing and spiritual work, will use the resource for: classes and conferences to deepen their practice; opportunities to engage individuals in shared spaces of exploration; identifying mentorship; and intention accompaniment of community organizations.
Our Project Based Fellows are practitioners across experience interested in offering to a broader community their gifts. These include healing justice sessions for activists engaged in Palestinian-BIPOC solidarity work, workshops on astrology and tarot, and pregnant and postpartum people of color.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our decision-making circle, representing practitioners and community organizers, to review and select this cohort of practitioners. We extend our gratitude to:
