Fellowship Description & Eligibility:

WHAT: Soul of The Movement Fund Mass is launching a second cycle of our fellowship program for Massachusetts based spiritual and healing practitioners that seek to support the spiritual, healing, and emotional needs of social justice movements. Fellows will be provided a monetary gift honoring their work.

WHY: As communities experience systemic attacks on the bodies of BIPOC, women, disabled, queer, and trans folks, the need for community practitioners to help cultivate healing in community is undeniable. As we recognize the labor of healing and spiritual practitioners is often undervalued and not uplifted as core to movement strategy, we actively choose to acknowledge its major importance.  As a fund, we see our role as creating accessible pathways to access much needed resources in an effort to build toward a more sustainable movement.

WHO: Priority will be given to healing and spiritual practitioners from historically marginalized and oppressed communities based in Massachusetts including: folks who have been historically marginalized from other sources of funding in their traditions/practices and those who identify as BIPOC, women, disabled, queer, and trans.

Recipients of 2023’s cycle are not eligible to be selected.

The fund will allot fellowship spots in three categories including:

Sustainer Fellow-$ 5,000 gift

  • Practitioner who is experienced in the work (8+ years), has played key roles in the support of individuals and community based organizations

Emerging Practitioner Fellow – $2,500 gift

  • Practitioner who is new to the work (newly exploring 8 or less years) hoping to explore by engaging in a training, coaching, mentoring OR facilitation of a workshop series, training, building curriculum etc

Project Based Fellow – $1,500 gift

  • Practitioner/s (could be a group of 4 or less) who want to provide a one time offering for community. Note: formal organizations (i.e, 501c3’s and LLCs) are not eligible to be nominated

Requirements for all fellows include

  1. Utilizing the resources within 8-10 months
  2. Attend a convening alongside other fellows in Spring 2024
  3. Culminating Project: In conversation with co-directors, design a way to communicate your work (Via video, zoom call, art piece, short written piece  etc.) to contribute to a closing landscape report
